2013 in review: artists and Crawlspace editors

Conrad Standish (Standish / Carlyon)

2013 was a really good year for me. Started harnessing some more positive mental and physical energies and I feel it kinda manifested in the way that various things unfolded throughout the year. Met some great people, heard a lot of inspiring music, saw some strange sights.

Musically – and on the local tip – Perfume Production were my fave discovery. Laila Sakini and Clare Wohlnick. They’ve only done two shows so far, both of which were supporting Standish/Carlyon, and they’re kind of a very subtly dubby, deep-house proposition, but then their second gig was totally different to their first so I actually can’t say with any authority what kind of a band they are. Other than the best band.

Like a lot of others, I went bananas over Galcher Lustwerk and that ‘100% Galcher‘ mix, also loved the Shadowlust LP on L.I.E.S, Marina Rosenfeld/Warrior Queen on Room40, TM404, Rashad Becker, the ‘Welcome To The Room’ radio show out of Berlin, Sotofett mixes, Totebagz, Day Care parties in Melbourne, Bamboo Musik, the ‘Sportsforest’ mix by the A Colourful Storm crew, Finis Africae reissues. There was a lot going on this year.

And so onto the next.

This sounds insanely sappy, but just want to say that I’ve enjoyed reading Crawlspace so much this year. This post tops it off too.

All the best in bringing writing about more eclectic music in 2014.
