Here’s a new ‘mixtape’ from Melbourne’s Mark Barrage. Barrage has a habit of releasing something right when you think he might have disappeared for good – his last release was 2010’s Rubicon Drive, which followed from 2008’s Delays. Made up of 15 brief synth excursions, Pleasure in Labour sounds closer to instrumental hip-hop – a prickly and less submerged Clams Casino – than the techno theme which dominated back in 2010. The longer you listen the stranger and more abstracted it becomes. Worth a listen and you can download it for free, which is nice.
