Listen: Drunk Hands – Suite for Piano

drunkhands

This ominously beautiful piece for piano and drum kit was recorded last week, late at night, at the Preston markets in Melbourne. It’s an excerpt from Drunk Hands’ forthcoming album Suite for Piano, which will release through Endless Melt shortly. This sample captures the strange allure of fluoroscently lit public environments in the dead of night: walkways and thoroughfares passed by millions, suddenly dead. Ticket windows shuttered, but trains still passing to eject one or two muted, shuffling faces eager to not be there.

Drunk Hands is the solo work of Tasmanian Duncan Blachford, who also plays in Exhaustion, Rubbish Throwers and formerly Psychic Baggage and Witch Hats, among others.
