Big Yawn is a Melbourne duo comprising Tim Slattery and Kinlay Denning. They’ve just released tracks from a forthcoming Fallopian Tunes release called Hash Matters, which to my knowledge is the first official record they’ll have let out into the wild. They trade in fairly minimal instrumental rock that sits somewhere between Liars and Gang Gang Dance upon first listen – all showy percussion and spacious silences punctured by textures that occasionally threaten to culminate into a melody, but never do.
