More unsettling stuff from Brisbane. There’s not a lot of solid info regarding #459 out there, aside from his place of residence, his first name (“Merl”) and the four releases on his Bandcamp page, which run the gamut between crude electric guitar moods and comparatively bright and colourful synth pieces. The track embedded below is from a new release called Interlude: The Public Broadcast, which follows a release last month called Magic Mile, presumably named after that long strip of car dealerships in Brisbane.
‘Teenage Mutant’ is taken from the second half of Interlude, which follows a more depressive, guitar-driven first half. It’s a strange record at first glance: two very distinct aesthetics meeting at the halfway point. Have a listen.
